At Rathmines Preschool, we believe in the phrase “Play is a Child’s Work.” Whilst it may appear that the children are “only playing”, they are in fact learning valuable skills that will remain with them for the rest of their life. As all activities are based on the children’s needs & interests the children are willing participants. Some of the activities that you will see the children participating are:

  • Art/Craft: painting, drawing, collage, gluing, cutting, threading.
  • Language/Literacy/Numeracy: in small groups, large groups & individual activities.
  • Cognitive: shapes, colours, numbers, memory games, puzzles
  • Puzzles
  • Sand & Water play
  • Science: experiments, cooking
  • Music: singing, dancing, instruments, relaxation
  • Construction: large & small blocks, lego, mobilo, wood, train set
  • Playdough, modelling dough, clay
  • Role Play/Dramatic Play dress-up clothes, home corner
  • Activities involving bats, balls, hoops, running, jumping, climbing.
  • Activities designed to promote independence, self-esteem, and school readiness.
